“Alan’s songwriting is multi-faceted. He seems to be a man with the mind of a prog rocker, the heart of a folk musician, and the fingers of a blues artist. Add to this the unassuming nonchalance of his personal style and the deep appreciation for the towns and landscapes he lives in, and you get the total unexpected experience that is Alan Garmonsway’s music.” - Darin Cavanaugh Jellison, Guilt by Association Records
Songwriter and recording artist
biography
As part of a band, Alan once released an album called 'All in One'. That was a true prediction, as nowadays many of his releases start and finish with his own work - music and lyric writer, instrumentalist and vocalist, mixer and producer! However, he does also work on collaborative projects with some trusted musical friends as well.
Learning piano and guitar from an early age, he played in both rock and folk bands before starting solo performances and his own songs. His songs are wide and varied, transcending both acoustic and rock genres and utilising keyboards, acoustic and electric guitars, bass, percussion and vocals. They probably fit an Indie Folk category best.
Recent successes have been 100k streams and views of his songs this year and radio plays including the prestigious 'BBC Introducing' series. Four of his songs have lately won consecutive quarterly 'Top Finalist' recognition at the World Songwriting Awards (Saturday Morning, A Love Like This, Last Dance Woman & Getting Over You) and another of his songs 'Macky the Pit Pony' has been featured in the nationwide educational package for the National Coal Mining Museum for England. Alan's songs also regularly feature on both FM and Internet radio stations.
